Commercial Diesel Hybrid Electric Bus Transmission

Berkshire PowerTech marked a milestone in December, 2009 by delivering transmission number 3100 as part of the Orion VII diesel hybrid electric bus.  The buses are in service in such cities as San Francisco, Toronto and New York City.  With this gearbox manufacturing, BPTi is the largest manufacturer of hybrid bus transmissions in the world currently.  BPTi designed and helped develop the high-speed (>15,000rpm input) planetary gearbox that is this hybrid bus transmission.
